Maya, Chelsea and Sophie

A magical moment, as Maya played her violin Chelsea and Sophie danced. There have been times throughout Chelsea's illness that she was too weak to move...watching her happily dance was a most special moment.
Thank you Maya!

THANK YOU OPHELIA

A huge THANK YOU to Ophelia for donating her December profits from her business, Silver Icing as well as a personal donation. The donation will go towards the chemotherapy treatment Chelsea received at BC Children's Hospital before medical coverage began.

The Douthwaites and Team Chelsea are so grateful for every donation received over the past year and a half. The enormous costs incurred are overwhelming but thanks to the generous and kind Chelsea supporters from all over the world it is one major piece that Angie and Simon have not had to worry about. Please know that the generosity will never be forgotten and that the Douthwaites will pay it forward. XOXO

Message from Simon, Angie, Sophie and Chelsea

"Happy New Year everyone. We've made the transition from Malaysia to Canada safely. Chelsea continues her treatment at the BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver and is in excellent hands. Chelsea is doing really well and we are thrilled to now have Chelsea's treatment covered under BC Medical. We can finally say a great big thank you to each and every one of you for all your love and support over the past year and a half. We cannot imagine what it would have been like without you all. We thank you again from the bottoms of our hearts, and we would especially like to thank Team Chelsea in Canada, Hong Kong, Spain/Gibraltar, UK and Malaysia/Singapore. You've all been amazing and inspiring. We have reached our target for covering our medical expenses which exceeded our insurance coverage in Malaysia which is just fantastic. We are now fully covered after a waiting period in Canada.

Chelsea is doing really well and her maintenance chemotherapy will continue for approximately 9 more months. She is especially happy to have her hair back below her ears and to be joining other children in her Junior Kindergarten class. She's settling in well and is surprisingly confident given her isolation from other kids for so long and the ordeal she has been through. She's a trooper and she's doing her very best.

There will be more updates on the blog from time to time, but we wanted to make everyone aware our fundraising targets have been reached, and that we are fully covered now.

THANK YOU!!!!

With love from Chelsea, Sophie, Angie and Simon"

Merry Christmas from the Douthwaites and Team Chelsea!!

Hello Team Chelsea Supporters!

We apologize in the long delay since our last update. It has been a busy few months for the Douthwaites with a move to Ang's hometown in Canada! You can imagine the logistics to making this move happen and then the settling in period: new school, home, treatment facility...
Luckily, things have gone relatively smoothly and the family is surrounded by family and friends. Chelsea continues the maintenance phase of treatment with monthly trips to the amazing and incredible BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver. She is a happy and brave little girl who loves to dance and play with her big sister.
The Douthwaites and Team Chelsea want to wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas as well as thank everyone for all the support and love you have shared. Please know the enormous positive impact you have made in helping Chelsea fight cancer and helping the Douthwaites manage the financial strain over this past year. We love you all so much!!!

Aunty Sara's Abseil Fundraiser Huge Success!!!

A note from Aunty Sara:

"I wanted to thank you personally for your donation - you have helped me and 'Team Chelsea' (5 friends!) to raise £4,296, which is about 10% of the total Simon and Angie need to cover Chelsea's treatment.

I booked this abseil months ago, and had been trying really hard not to think about it. But as the day approached I was forced to - and I set up the funding page with trepidation. Before I knew it, donations started to come in, and with each one, a message, a name, a memory - many from long ago when I was Chelsea's age, and I started to feel excited and supported. All this love was coming from all over the world - for me, for my parents, and for Simon, Angie, Sophie and of course most of all, for Chelsea. We - the Douthwaites - are so very grateful to you all for that.

Here I am at 127m! I'd just gone over the edge, and they said, cheerfully "just stop there and smile for the camera"!!! I'm still not quite sure how I managed to follow that instruction! The abseil itself was both terrifying and amazing. Thankfully a friend had had the peace of mind to remind me to enjoy it, so with her words ringing in my ears, I managed to stop and look around - as you can see it was quite a view.

Chelsea has another year of treatment ahead of her - a much easier year, we hope. If you want to keep up-to-date with how she's doing, you can look at their bloghttp://helpingchelsead.blogspot.co.uk/, and - just in case you haven't seen my two girls' fundraising efforts, they are here http://helpingchelsead.blogspot.co.uk/2015_03_24_archive.html
Thank you so much again, and please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Sara
